GUARDIAN ANGEL

The Sunday Muse #57

This week Carrie has posted an interesting photographic prompt taken by Susie Clevenger.

Thank you Susie for your wonderful photo.

So, you think I look pensive.

It matters not one jot
Whether I am a Cherub or a Seraph.
I am tired and I am weary.
I may be ten feet tall and strong as stone,
But I am worked so hard and have no time to rest.
To be one's Guardian Angel is so challenging.
Our subjects wander into danger more often than they realise.
Why, twice today I plucked my friend from the jaws of death.
Both instances were close calls requiring me to stop time itself.
I had to, or he would have been lost in motor accidents.
Twice in a day! Imagine it!!
Of course he did not realise any of it,
And he did not see me ~ he never does.
It's not permitted when I am forced to act.
Yes, he did not realise that he was in the slightest danger.
Yet somehow he knows I am with him always, and I look after him.
He has known that, always, and takes great comfort from it.
He calls me whenever he is frightened or overwhelmed
With life's endless complications and impossibilities.
I am always there for him, as my Father decreed,
From the very day that he was born.
From the very day I earned my wings.

Call me Clarence.

  1. This was touching. My guardian angel kept hands around me through some stupid times as a teenager/college student.

    Enjoyed this. A lot.

  2. So many never realize when their guardian angel has intervened and saved them. Love the view through Clarences eyes. This was wonderful to read Eddie!

    1. Remember Clarence from It's a Wonderful Life? Guess he was the imspiration here. Did not realise Susie's angel was there to protect the dead. Trust me to pick one to protect the living. Lol.

  3. I like you approach. You wrote of angels that step to save a life. I have never seen another angel statue in a cemetery like this one, and I've photographed several.

    1. Thank you, Suzie, and once again thank you for the prompt. This elicited quite a number of different responses. Trust me to be different. Lol. Not a very interesting job for him. Not much going on in a cemetery. No wonder he is deep in thought contemplating his navel. Great photograph, Suzie. I'll be along to read your's soon. :)

  5. Another great piece Bluelights, I wonder what my guardian angel has to say about me? Thanks for the reminder that when decisions are made, thoughts of the consequences must also come to mind.

  6. Women over the age of 30 are useless and create autistic children. Basically, you shuold never date a woman over the age of 25. Old women are stupid.

    1. Gosh, I would normally delete a comment like this immediately. But this one is so outrageous I am leaving it here with my answer, so all who read it can laugh at you.

What a disgusting pile of clap trap!!
Totally unfounded and really unforgiveable. My wife had our second child when aged 40 and he is a genius. Perhaps your mother, Sir, was over 30 too, because you certainly are not a genius!!

As for dating women over 25. You are missing out, Sonny Boy!
Take it from me, ladies over that age are interesting, beautiful, intelligent and good to be with, and certainly not stupid . . . perhaps you do not know how to attract one.

All ladies should be respected for who they are.
Who the hell do you think you are?
