In this life there are good times and bad, right and wrong, periods of elation and periods of depression. Yet sometimes we are fortunate to live a 'shade of grey', somewhere in between.

I'M HOME AND NOT LEGGLESS
Hi Friends,
This afternoon I was discharged from hospital, albeit in my view a little early but they have stabilised my condition and the fever has subsided and I am back onto oral antibiotics. The swelling has reduced greatly. My left leg was three times the size of my right one and now it is just 1.5 times . . . and falling.
The ulcer, still nasty but much drier, can now be treated by District Nurses and I shall be visited by one tomorrow for a dressing and compression bandages . . and we can work out a plan of action to get rid of this nasty thing.
They will probably be known to me from the days they visited Maria when she required their attention . . . They all like my cups of tea and coffee . .
I have a few interesting posts about the hospital stay and how a number of nurses remembered me from my ambulance days . . .
I came home by ambulance and one of the crew was a great chap I worked with . . . lots of co-incidences . . and some great fun . . plus some painful days . .

DeleteSo glad you are healing.
ReplyDeleteThanks Gail . . . alas healing slowly. It is all way too slow for me . . . :)
DeleteBrilliant that your leg is doing so well.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed seeing you in hospital and sorry that you've moved further away from me now. Hope to come over when I can.
Look after yourself.
Lots of Love from your big sis,

Hi Eddy - it's good to know you're home .. and having the experience you've had .. I hope you'll be seeing lots of friends from working/volunteering days. Peter will be delighted to see you too .. take care and heal up as soon as possible .. all the best - Hilary
ReplyDeleteThanks Hilary . . . I was very fortunate to have so many family/friends visiting . . . I suppose they must love me . . . lol
DeleteGlad you're back and still with us! I estimated that you would get our card (sent to the hospital) this morning, so the person in your old bed now would be thinking "Who sent me this, I don't know anyone in Leicester!"
ReplyDeleteThanks Keith . . . did not quite get an out of body experience but I awoke to see a picture frame full of passing clouds and I thought I was either in Heaven or reading one of Betsy's posts, illustrated with fluffy clouds . . . lol
DeleteSo sorry the card did not get to me . . . they may forward it on . . . I could get my sister to call in to see if they still have it . . . thank you very much Keith.~ much appreciated . . .:)
I just heard from Linda you weren't do too well, Eddie. I'm sorry to hear your ulcer had gotten worse. Your left leg was three times the size of your right one? Say it ain't so. I think this should happen to dictators, not to Eddie Blights. That said, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you, my friend. You know that.
ReplyDeleteThanks Blue
DeleteYou are a good friend
Through and through . . .
Arterial supply to leg ok
So worst scenario has gone away
Fixing me might take some time
Then I'll celebrate with glass of wine.
Thanks again Blue
We'll need to open a case of champagne!
Deletetoo right . . . . yes a case of Champers
DeleteJust had the District Nurse round and I can only describe the turnaround as miraculous.
The swelling has gone right down and my leg is almost the same size as the other,
Ok the pain is still there but that is only to be expected and is manageable with pain killers.
Infection seems to have gone and far less yellow goo coming out.
I am REALLY encouraged.
I might have a Blog Party when I am recovered if I can find someone to do the catering . . . lol
Thanks for being such a good mate . . . . Eddie :)
So sorry to hear you are ailing! Best wishes for a speedy home recovery and I am looking forward to hearing more stories.
ReplyDeleteThank you Michelle
DeleteYou really are a lovely belle
You are so very caring
and that helps me with my repairing . . .
Thanks and appreciated very much ~ Eddie :)
Having dealt with something similar a few times, please do exactly what they say and arrive on their doorstep if the situation worsens. It can lead to very serious complications, very quickly, as I am sure you are well aware. It's great you are home... as staying longer always ups the incidence of other people's infections infecting you! But I do hope they didn't release you too early. And I hope that, as adorable as he is, someone else can look after Peter for a while. Your health is crucial and you need to rest and recover... and rest and recover some more There. Dr. Suzie has now left the building! Big HUGGGGGGS to you. xox
ReplyDeleteThanks Dr Suzie . . . I shall indeed heed your warning . . I shall write to you soon . . . :) x
DeleteHopefully everything now starts to heal up and you are back to running around like a umm frisky pup? Hey, the rhyme went that way. Just don't lift your leg and pee on a tree, okay?
ReplyDeleteYes . . . I'll try not to cock my leg to mark my territory . . . . lol
DeleteAs I said to Blue, the legs has shown what I can only describe as a miraculous improvement and I am very encouraged that we are getting on top of things. I might make the next Olympics after all . . . lol
Hi Eddie,
ReplyDeleteA little note to wish you well
I hope you're feeling hearty
Build your strength, take the meds
So you're ready to dance at the blog party! ... a great idea.
Thank you Mary ~ you are so kind
Deletewhich makes me good and sound of mind
I will try to get well soon, dear
And bounce right back ~ so never fear
I hope I will be good as new
And well enough to visit you . . . . . . in Blogville.
Hugs and smiles ~ Eddie :)

DeleteI have some in house stories to write ~ so much happened during that week and I just wonder whether I was meant to be there . . . touched a few people . . . :)
Glad to hear it! I'm sure that was a frightening experience.
ReplyDeleteThank you SAW . . . yes it was and still is in a way . . . . not out of the woods quite yet . . . but getting there slowly . . . must be a good patient and do what I am told . . . . :)
DeleteYou have such a great attitude.... I bet you're a great person to know! Get better soon.
ReplyDeleteThat's a very nice thing to say ~ thank you 'Shammickite' . . . I am blessed that whoever I meet we seem to get on really well . . . and I am generally admired . . . lol. I aim to get better asap . . . :)
DeleteEddie, I hope your pain and uncomfortable conditions have improved. You so need to get back up and moving, I'm certain. Sending special wishes of healing to you. Feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteThanks Julie ~ encouraging signs of healing but pain is intense sometimes ~ worth it for a full recovery ~ I can walk about quite well bit ulcers are rather like 3rd degree burns with exposed nerve endings rubbing against anything . . . . . . ouch :) Feel a lot better though . . .
DeleteSo glad to hear you're home, Eddie. Take care and God bless!
ReplyDeleteThanks my good and faithful mate, Jim.
DeleteYou always come through for me . . . thanks again and bless you . . . even though you are a man I love you mate and we go back quite a way . . . :)
