DREAMING A ROMANTIC DANCE

Something a little different tonight - I feel in a romantic mood.
Please press the play button and enjoy the music as you read my poem.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I shall enjoy the dance.

* * * * * * * *

I saw her standing before me; vivid, charismatic and smiling, as if her very being and soul was beckoning mine to hers. My heart skipped several beats as it surrendered totally to her captivating beauty, in total harmony with a lyrical melody, beginning to play.

* * * *

From across a misty ballroom floor she had first captured my affection.

Her large attractive eyes had targeted my very being and then struck home decisively and pierced my beating heart.

Never before, without even one word spoken, had such magnetism affected me this way, commanding my full attention towards this lovely lady, at this most precious of moments.

It seemed as though we had been created for each other and I knew in an instant she was the lady of my dreams and I knew she felt that way too.

I watched her as if transfixed and my world stood still. I was aware only of her beauty, and only of her smiling and loving face, as our tune was played to a delightful melody, accompanying the rapid beating of my heart strings.

As I drew a little closer she stretched out a slender hand, so invitingly, as if creating a link to her mind and gorgeous body.

As she walked a little closer towards me I felt our eyes totally transfixed together, as if a pathway had been constructed to connect and merge our souls.

We paused just inches apart, each mirroring each other's every movement.  I could smell the sweet fragrance of her perfume as we spoke our names.

She opened up herself completely to me and I took her in my arms, holding her closer and closer, as we danced our dreams away; still gazing and totally mesmerised by each other as the delightful music played.

I stroked her cheek then ran my hand gently through her hair and then I kissed her tenderly on the lips. I felt them part in ecstasy and then I whispered something magical in her ear.

She held me even closer, as we danced and danced the night away. I felt her warm and enticing body move as one with mine across the floor and felt the dawn of her passion and heard the sigh of her love.
She let her lovely head fall gently on my shoulder and I felt a tear of joy as we danced until the break of day.

Well that was a bit different wasn't it?
This music really moves me. I heard it recently on the radio.

It is Dvorak Slavonic Dance No. 2.

      Lovely music isn't it? . . . . . . and there us a reply poem on my banana post :)

    2. Oh, but I have to ask. Is that 'us' a Freudian slip, maybe? Do tell!

      Delete
    3. Not so - just a typo I think - one of many I make, lol - a visit to SpecSavers required I think!! :)

      Delete
    4. Your SpecSavers must be like our Lens Crafters. :)

      Delete
    5. Yes, I've just looked them up - very similar, but you managed to find your way here so maybe you don't need them afterall! Did you like that sweet music?:)

      Delete
    6. Lovely music! And having a college degree in music, I do appreciate all the fine classics! You chose a gorgeous one to dance to!

      Delete
    7. Then may I have the next dance? - make sure you put on your stilettos first :)

      Delete
    8. Mrs. Trellis says to wear hobnail boots! haha. But I think if you stay in front of me, my heels shouldn't bother you. They may fluster you, but that's different. lol....

      Delete
    9. I am certain they would fluster me but to make sure it would be safer for you dance going backwards . . . . Oh and what colour dress would you be wearing and how would you wear your hair? I think I would prefer you not to wear hobnail boots, otherwise I might feel obliged to weat my ambulance boots - hahaha

      Delete
    10. If we wear boots, you'll have to change the music to Country! :)

      Delete
    11. Well maybe for another ocassion . . . . but this is a posh do and we are wearing our best 'glad rags' - you may see my dashing scarlet waistcoat in stark contrast against my bluelights! lol

      Delete
    12. Well, I like posh events...very fun! But this is Suza's comment! She needs to put on her stilettos and have a spin around the dance floor with you! Suza! Come here and dance! Do you have any spots left on your dance card? :)

      Delete
    13. Yes she is highly conspicuous by her absence, as is Gloria and Linda. Yes come on Suza!b . . . . I am waiting for you!!!

I think Gloria is looking for her castinettes and Linda is stuck at the cottage:)

      Delete
    14. Good Lord - my comment has grown! Here I am, tapping my foot, waiting for a spin, and Eddie is in the Land of Nod. Guess I will have to amuse myself... wonder where that banana skin is...

      Delete
    15. Have no fear Suzie. Sorry for the necessity of foot tapping - I was waiting for our tune! Gloria's fault - she wanted a second dance! My you are wearing such a beautiful gown . . . . . come the music is playing! :)

      Delete
    16. Why thank you - it was made by a top Parisian designer just for the occasion. Now let's have that dance... I hear our tune. Oh... how nice of them to clear the floor for us ;-) xo

      Delete
    17. Ouch! I've stepped on my toe!! ROFL

      Delete
  2. Well, that was gorgeous! What a change from the banana man. haha. If I had to guess before seeing the post, I would have expected a rose in your mouth and some Tango!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Well it does take two to Tango I am told but if we both had roses in our mouths people would think I looked a bit funnier than in my banana skin lol

      Delete
    2. I think the Tango is two people, one rose...hopefully without thorns. ha.

Some of your commenters are cracking me up! :) I see quite a few ladies I don't know!

      Delete
    3. The Tangos I know are:
      1. A Tango dance - you know when a rose (chick like you dances with a thorn (a bloke, preferably Eddie) lol
      2. A Tango canned drink like coke and I am far too debonair to swig that in such a romantic enviroment.
Is there another type of Tango you should tell me about?

Yes a lot of lady commenters do this! - you see they are totally intoxicated by the romance of the evening! If you think you don't know some of the ladies wait until you see what's coming! There s a limousine full of hot chicks, all 9s and 10's waiting to board the next flight! ROFL - No actually quite a few more will come when they can.

      Delete
    4. A limo full? My oh, my...hope you have your comfortable shoes on! Sounds like you are going to be dancing all night with a line of ladies waiting their turn!

      Delete
    5. Not sure whether they will all come - some might give me the slip! . . . . so you might have to help me out by having a few more dances with me:)

      Delete
    6. Ok. I'll check back and see if they showed. Where they coming by way of Australia? Ha. Did you use any frozen blueberries yet?

      Delete
    7. It's getting very expensive hiring th orchestra, the ball room, all the hotel rooms, the foof and the drinks! . . . . and a lot of them have not arrived yet. I think we should go th Australia instad and give them the slip!

      Delete
  3. Time was my red satin dancing shoes would have been itching to take the floor when they heard this music ...about fifty years ago! :-)

    1. Sorry I trod on your toes! lol

      Delete
    2. Jinksy, take a tip from me - always wear hobnail boots when you're likely to be approached by strange men in dance halls. Caddoc taught me that lesson only too well.

      Delete
    3. Thank goodness you didn't tell her to weat stilettos - she might have put her foot down, hard!!

      Delete
    4. Oh, but I love stilettos! I have many pairs!

      Delete
    5. It depends where you put your feet down when dancing - a heel on my toe could be most painful. Actually I do love a lady wearing stiletto heels - I find them very sexy! . . . :)

  4. Eddie Bluelights! You stirred up some memories for us too, with all this talk of music and dancing, but nothing so elegant, I'm sorry to say, occurred on this occasion...

    4. Obviously, the one picture which should be here is mine! Who else would have been lured by the light? Trellissimo must have been peeping over my shoulder, last time I was researching bananas, and found a human one...

      Delete
    5. Ah! Mrs Trellis, just visited your blog and will read tonight - I see you are a friend of Pen at Jinksy.
(Shhh! Don't tell everyone but in June I am going to meet her in Havant. She has very kindly crocheted sometng for me)
How come you were not frightened away by Trellissimo and have with survived him for 40 years? lol

      Delete
    6. No, no! 'Tis Caddoc who is my husband of more than 40 years, look you !
Trellissimo is but a distant relation who lodges with us. He it is who provides the Voice or Reason, when Cad and I lose ours...

      Delete
    7. Oh I see! So he is a sort of referee, then? LOL

      Delete
    8. N.B.That should have said Voice OF Reason - it's too early in the morning for proper editing, Eddie. Caddoc and I had a late night counting sheep, yesterday... We got up to number 5,242 - which meant this morning came too soon....

Thank you for your compliment about the prose - I do develop an accute dose of verbal diahorrea and let loose from time to time!! lol./ Meths! - No Polish Vodka - Yes.
I am so pleased you can comment on my blog - (or am I?)

Maybe it is the sweet music at the ballroom.
Anyway it was no fluke you commented you did it twice! . . . . . or couldn't you remember you did it one 9 minute earlier! LOL

    2. Oh! I'm sure you can write like that! . . . . you just have to meet the right lady first and sit down into the wee small hours with a bottle of Polish Vodka! - it amplifies the inspiration.

Oh I should take Betsy up in your offer, quick before she is snapped up. Ladies like her do not like to be kept waiting!

      Delete
    3. Certainly Betsy, Will you dance with me? Just let me put the zimmer frame to one side. **pushes Eddie out of the way** There, that's better, now we have some room to dance.

    4. Enjoy yourselves and I'll ask the conductor to repeat the peace Keith so you can enjoy Betsy's company for twice as long.
Now that's worth a pint if I come to Leicester. I will wear my Bath Rugby shirt especially to annoy the landlord and insult the Leicester Tigers ROFL. Last time I did that they chucked me out!! LOL

    6. The things I do for Keith! Can he manage to comment on your blog or is it just mine?:)

    7. Eddie, it's no use you coming to Leicester because I live in a parallel world. I built a special computer that can travel sideways to other parallel Earths. Where I live the Romans were never conquered and we had television by 1750 and a colony was established on Mars in 1902. The present Emperor is Marcus Caeser Jonius. I travel to this world every night just to see what a mess it's in.

I'm not much of a dancer, but I shall muddle my way through and apologize profusely if I happen to trod on your toe. Yet it seems I must wait until you are free. to me
My comment wouldn't post on your blog for some reason, so here it is...

And they danced. She holding him, and he tenderly guiding her across the floor. Soft strains of music lifted their hearts and was the only sound apart from the gentle swish of her silk gown skimming the floor. The moon glowed in an inky sky illuminating a glitter of stardust, while the newborn lovers gazed into each other's eyes. Their love gently bloomed and they were carried by it over time and space and into eternity.

Beautifully written my friend. I actually felt your story and was transported there. The music was a beautiful touch. Thank you for the dance. I look forward to our next..

I started a book blog and a totally different set of bloggers frequent those. I'm blogging under my own name now, rather than gaelikaa, my old blogging name, although I still keep the 'gaelikaa's diary' blog going. Gosh, I've missed everyone, I'm feeling nostalgic seeing the old, familiar names here in the comment box. Thanks for the reminder. So sorry to hear about Maria - you'll meet again in Heaven and you know, it's only a moment away any time.

    I'll be back soon.....

Thank you for your very kind thoughts rearding Maria - I have written two poems about her featured on my blog. I know we shall be reunited one day in Heaven.

Make sure you come back soon . . . :)

  41. Absolutely beautiful, Eddie. Was this memory or fantasy inspired by music and memories? No matter, she was a lucky lady to have had such a romantic partner. And you a lucky man.

I am blessed knowing so many dear cherished friends I have made in BlogLand and it makes me so happy that so many of them have returned for this special reunion event.

I really miss our Blogging fellowship and I do hope your health issues are being resolved for you. I miss your wit and humour, Bron so much. Please let us keep in contact. Hugs ~ Eddie

  42. Several good bloggy pals could or would not attend the Ball, but I received a few messages

    "Well hello Señor Eddie!
My, my, I see you invited everybody to the dance!
We shall see if my carriage can even make it out of Central Park ;-)"

    (Shame - stagecoach drivers are not what they used to be . . . . . and . . . . )

"I will follow the yellow brick road and be at the ball, God willing"

    (and)

"Merci for your comment! Will be over later tonight, but I thought you said in the post that you wanted to keep the lady anonomous??? LOL"

(Cheeky thing . . . . and she never showed up!!)

  43. I saw them dance.
She wore a dress that sang of Gypsies and Flamenco in a summer night.
He dressed his face in a dreamy look.

    I saw them dance.
They were joined by Cinderella and her Prince, spun and spun by Gomez and Morticia Addams.
The nice was golden red with dreams, violins and mirth-full laughter.

I saw them dance. And while dancing, they saw everything.

  46. Well, unfortunately not all my friends could arrive, including the lovely Cherry of "The Girl from Cherry Blossom Street", who says:

    "Well hello Señor Eddie!
My, my, I see you invited everybody to the dance!
We shall see if my carriage can even make it out of Central Park ;-)"

    . . . to which I replied,

"Well tell the driver to get off his 'derrier' . . . . . . and get you to the ball!
Prince Charming awaits!! . . . . for his dance and his kiss on the cheek . . . . the last one wore off! lol."
