ROBIN SOLVES MAGPIE TWINS PROBLEM

Since Sunday the entire Magpie Tales community have been scratching their heads, searching their souls, expounding all kinds of theories, writing poetic masterpieces and tall stories, in the hope that these silly little men will bury the hatchet once and for all, turn round, face each other, shake hands, have a beer - and then perhaps we can all go home!

So I am having another go because, a little birdie has told me we are all on the wrong track!

A little British Robin, no less, has the answer to MAG 224.

He had accompanied me in a garden all morning, and was so pleased with all the worms I found for him, he came right up to me and said, "Magpies! Don't trust any of them, NOR listen to any of their tales! - I have the correct solution."

Bright little chap, isn't he? - A very high I.Q. and in MENSA

He continued, "Just look at that picture again!"

Not To Be Reproduced, 1937, Rene Magritte

"That chap in the mirror wants such a kick up the derrier!"

"Solve this riddle and he MUST turn round - but a word of warning. The second number I am going to give you is not as it seems - it is a different number than 32 and there just is there to let you know what the actual word sounds like.
A little lateral thinking is required, ok!"

"Are you ready?"

"There were twins!
One was 30 and the other 32 (remember, not actual!)
One was born in March
And the other's birthday was in September.
And they both married each other!
How is all this possible?"

"Now sit down Eddie and have your highly self indulgent Great British Breakfast, with lashings of Cholesterol and try to fathom it out.  Come on Eddie, eat it all up!"

Burp! - Lovely!

Well, folks what do you reckon?

This is just a fun entry;  press HERE for my main attempt.

I am not serious all the time, as my regular readers well know.

  1. As far as I can make out there must be TWO sets of twins. One set were 30 and born in March and obviously must be the opposite sex to the other set of twins born in September so each married a twin from the other pair. Other than that I don't see any other explanation.

    1. Nice try Keith . . . but alas, nay! . . . . . only ONE set of twins and 32 is not the correct number but just sounds like it - there, that's a clue!
Lateral thinking! I got eventually about 10 years ago.

The riddle has been solved lol
      Pat cracked it!

      They were both 30,
They were born in a place called March and they were born in month of September
And they were both ministers, priests or vicars and officiated at each of their weddings.

      You can wake upo now!! . . . . . haha!
      Cheers ~ Eddie ♥

  8. This morning about 6am I found the answer on a site on t'Internet. But it was too late for me to put it up because Pat has won first prize any way. (I hate poets!) I had never heard of "March", which is a Fenland market town in the Isle of Ely. If I had known that I probably would have solved it? Sorry I said you were all mad, I should have said "completely mad".

Here's one for you. If I tied a slice of buttered toast on the cats back and I dropped it from a great height, how would it land? Got you.

  15. Hi Eddie, just paying a Sunday morning visit, I hope this is convenient? Even if I were not invited and I am trying hard to veil any possibly somehow greedy look on my face: I do hope, I can participate in that glorious full English! I love it and as I prefer travelling B&B in the UK I have already enjoyed so many versions of it between Penzance and Ullapool...
The robin is so cute, but such are all of them. But what can I make of your words?! I was touched. By your brilliant command of words as well as by the impact of emotion behind them... As I have learned many years ago, that if a poet/Author speaks in first person, this does not automatically mean, he reveals his very own inner being. So for the lingering sadness in your poetry I do hope, at least some of your story might be 'poetic license'... So let me wish you a most lovely and cheerful Sunday! To bad I cannot invite you to tea! Even coming with 'blue lights' it might be to far a distance!

    1. I am most touched by this wonderful surprise today, hearing from you like this has made my day.
You say such beautiful things straight from your great big heart. Thank you.
Yest I would indeed be wonderful if somehow the world became much smaller and I could be with you for afternoon tea.

It is always convenient for you to call whenever you want - any day.
Perhaps one day we might have a moorish Great British Full Breakfast.

As for my poem, it was ALL 'poetic licence' and in no way anything to do with my own life. This makes what you say even more encouraging because you, like others, are convinced it is real.

  16. Did a twin marry another person who was also a twin and were they both the same age? I haven't read the other comments so forgive me if this has been broached before.

    1. Hi Cait
No I am sorry you're on the wrong track. If you scroll up to Pat's answer he got it, but just between the two of us he was extremely lucky and chose the one day in his life when he would get it right . . . . LOL
      Hope he sees this LOL

Thanks for coming! Have a great day.
